Elphaba wants to be normal, but everyone discriminates against her because she's green. So she becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and then she learns a lot about family and herself, too.
I liked this book, but it isn't one of my favorites. Parts of it were kinda slow, and others were so fast I had to reread them to make it make sense. And too many people die! But I think Mr. Maguire did a good job of telling the witch's side of the story instead of just Dorothy's.
