Holly Short wanted to be a Recon officer but being a woman sometimes makes it hard to be treated fairly. So Holly takes the final test but it turns out to be harder than she expected when a real life enemy returns. Then Holly must put herself in a life-or-death situation that could result in the lead officer dying becausethough she's not allowed to use weapons yet.
Mulch Diggums wanted to be rich but Diggums hears about a new expensive tiara. So Diggums and Artemis Fowl team up once again to steal the tiara to make a hefty profit. Then Holly Short, the LEP officer, comes to save and prevent the tiara from being stolen.
I enjoyed having this “behind-the-scenes” book. The first story of Holly becoming a Recon officer was really scary when the enemy used a flesh-tearing spider to urge witnesses to come forward. Another reason I liked this book was because when Mulch Diggums stole the tiara, he had to fight his own kind to retrieve it. It was funny how he apologized and called the “Brother.” I wished there were more to both stories, though.
