Laura wanted to be just like her sister, with blonde hair and blue eyes. But throughout the story, she decides that she likes herself the way she is. So she starts doing things she wants to do, some of them not so lady-like. Then she doesn’t like lady-like stuff, and starts acting like a tomboy.
I loved this book. It was so interesting learning about what life was like back then. It told about so many things that I can't even imagine doing myself, such as going out to milk a cow in the dark, and seeing a bear.
