This week started with the official kick off for our Independent Reading Program. Students have set both weekly and term goals -- teams even have page goals for the week, which we'll be checking on this Friday. (Page ranges for their individual goals were based on ERB scores from last spring and a fluency assessment conducted one-on-one with each student last week.) We even broke down the goals to look at daily milestones ... in other words, how many pages does one need to read each day to achieve the overall goal by the end of the term. When looked at this way, students instantly saw that reaching for the high end of their target range is completely DO-ABLE!
