LIT: We "filtered" the text codes made during yesterday's reading of chapter five.
We looked at pictures of prunus vases to get an idea of what Tree-ear so desperately wants to make when he finally learns how to make pottery. (hint hint -- it's also on the cover of our books)
READING STRATEGY: PUNCTUATION
You know those little marks in printed text? Things like this: . , -- ... well, those are included for a reason. We practiced reading the punctuation marks along with the letters and words on the page. This is important because it helps us to be more fluent readers and when we read fluently, our reading sounds like our regular speech and it's easier to understand.
With partners at table groups, we read and coded chapter six of A Single Shard.
HOMEWORK: Read and code chapter seven of A Single Shard.
